Hands...
This is a picture of me. I wouldn't normally want to show a picture of myself but I have this time because I feel to share something with you. This picture was taken in Cambodia while sharing the Gospel of Grace. I so love to preach the Gospel!
A few days ago a dear friend who I respect and cherish greatly, asked me a question on Facebook about the raising of, and reaching out of our hands. Is it right? Is it necessary? What is the effect of it? Why would we do it? "If someone was to ask why do such a thing, how should I explain it?" This was her question.
I didn't have time to answer it then but this morning God has been prompting me to answer and so I have resorted to this blog, mainly because I know my friend reads this blog...so dear friend, you know who you are, this is for you. If others are blessed by it then , Hallelujah!
My friend made the comment that she liked this picture as I had my hand out and the question was about the raising of hands. It is true that hand raising is more widespread in some churches than others, and some more 'conservative' actively discourage the raising of hands.
I can only answer in two areas because these are from my own experience and conviction.
Put simply I can only answer from my testimony.
Firstly in my ministry my heart is to follow my leader.
His name is Jesus.
My declaration is 'for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.'
I watch Him and I do what He does.
Do you remember a few years ago many of us wore a simple bracelet with the letters W.W.J.D?
What Would Jesus Do?
In no way do I criticise but for me today my question is this, What is Jesus doing? However I can receive leading by seeing what my Leader did and I will share that now around the subject of hands.
So...hands.
There are many stories in the gospels that I love but I will share this one particularly. Many times I preach the Gospel using this story. In it Jesus shows me His way and leads me.
The story is of the woman who was bent double found in Luke 13. It is a tragic and beautiful story in one. In her state her only consciousness was of the dust and dirt of life (so tragic) until one day two feet come into her view (so beautiful).
Those two feet went on to to be pierced by the nail of our sin but for this lady the owner of these two feet spoke to her and said, '"Woman, you are freed from your sickness." And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she was made erect again and began glorifying God.' Luke 13: 12, 13
In the name of Jesus, and in His authority, I can do the same; I can declare FREEDOM for the people and lay hands on the people, and I do. We are conduits of the Grace of God and our hands are His hands. I do what Jesus did, and what He is doing today. He is still ministering His mission of restoration, recovery, freedom and favour [Luke 4: 18, 19] and today He blesses me with the great privilege to be His hands, and His mouth, and His...
Obviously there are many, many other examples of Jesus laying His hands on people and they were all healed. Putting out your hand for me is following my leader but more than that it is my right and privilege as God's son and as His representative here in this place. I am His conduit of Grace
[Wherever I go, particularly in Cambodia, people come and ask me to pray for them. I am no different to anyone else and I often wonder what exactly I should say and so I often just let the Spirit lead and just pray in the Spirit. But I remember one time a man came to me with a little finger that was stiff as a board. Funny, hey? I put my hand on His finger and I thought of Jesus. What would He be doing? So, into my mind came Jesus standing at the tomb of Lazarus. He looked to His Father and He said, 'Thank Your Father that You always hear me,' and He then called forth Lazarus from the grave. So as I held this man's finger in my hand I just said to the Lord, "Thank You that You hear me...(and then to the finger) in the name of Jesus, be healed." The man walked away bemused by his newly mobile finger! I could tell you more but I love that memory because not only is it true that Jesus remains powerful to heal today but He is even interested in the relatively little things that trouble us, like a stiff little finger!]
Other than this I could direct you to loads of scripture to show the apostles Peter and Paul laying hands on people and raising their hands. You can check them for yourselves. Both apostles, and others, laid their hands on in healing and raised their hands to quieten the people and to direct the people; there are many examples I can give you if you wish.
For me, I'll finish with this. Unconsciously it has always been my practice to raise my hand when I preach and probably particularly when I proclaim a blessing over the people.
When I was in Cambodia in December last one of my team there came to me and told me that when I raise my hand great power is released; the power of the Holy Spirit. I tell you this not to proclaim myself but to proclaim my leader, Jesus Christ, revealed in me through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit.
A day or two later I was preaching and there was a disturbance among the many people listening and naturally all eyes and ears went to that incident. What do we do? There was nothing I could do so I just raised my hand and prayed silently in the Spirit. Immediately the disturbance fell away and all eyes and ears turned back to me. Hundreds that day received Jesus.
At another place many were gathered filling the church with many others outside unable to get in. They looked in through any open point they could find and many just listened via the sound system we were using. Then the power went out. All amplification died! What do we do? I raised my hand and prayed silently in the Spirit. The power came back on, immediately. Many hundreds received Jesus that day. The Holy Spirit was present! I caught the eye of my brother sitting among the people who had told me that power is released by the raising of my hand and he just smiled.
So I believe that raising our hand whether it be to lay our hand on a sick person, or to declare blessing over the people, or in the sharing of the gospel, or in worship of our Lord and King is something we have authority to do and in it the power of the Holy Spirit is released in His work to exalt Christ and reveal Him in all His wonder and glory. Storms are calmed, spirits driven out, sicknesses healed, crowds settled, electricity restored, people blessed, and the King of kings and Lord of lords worshiped and glorified in the raising of our hands.
Raise your hand in recognition of the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the name above all names and wonder as the Holy Spirit in you is released to bring freedom and blessing.
Are we not blessed above all people? I rejoice that it is so.
Do you not rejoice to live in this day of the revelation of the favour of God in Christ Jesus? Absolutely!
Do you not rejoice that indwelling the believer is the Holy Spirit of God whose role is to reveal and exalt Christ in and through YOU?
Raise your hand and praise His Name.
Hallelujah!
Give thanks to the Lord for He is Good.; His Love, Mercy and Grace endure forever and ever. Amen.

What are we supposed to be doing now?
Facebook is an interesting thing isn't it? You know much of what is posted is a bit dubious in its value but within that there is the opportunity to hear God. In the last week God has spoken to me via Facebook more than once.
This morning I read an interaction between two people and it set me thinking.
Effectively one person was saying that we need effort on our part to grow in the Lord, to develop our relationship with Him and that we have moved on from what we were when we first believed in Jesus because 'you have increased your goodness, your knowledge, your self control, your perseverance, your godliness' and 'that has come through relationship, studying the Word of God and applying it to your life.'
The other person basically said that it isn't self-effort but Christ,...'I need Christ and no effort on my behalf.'
Interesting conversation and I want to say right here that I respect each view and the people who make them but feel to declare my thoughts because over a number of years God has been speaking into me a new way, the New Covenant way, the Way of Grace...and recently He said to me that He has given me a role to 'have the people sit down.'
The tragic thing is that within 'Christianity' today lies the same challenge that has always existed and that is the conundrum of Grace versus Law.
Succinctly put Law demands effort and Grace gives rest.
The Law was given, but Grace and Truth came. That's John 1: 17
Look at the Law, it required [God speaking]; 'you will, you will, you will, you will, you will not, you will not.' This is clear in Exodus 20.
On the other hand when we come to Hebrews 8 and see the terms of the New Covenant and it declares [God speaking]; 'I will, I will, I will, I will.'
Can it be any clearer?
Read the epistles, all of them, particularly those written by Paul and you will see that the basic issue that they all deal with is Law and Grace.
Our penchant as people is to have some sort of 'need' to pursue Law. In practice this means that we feel the need to have some input of effort into our restoration to God, and, sadly, this is what is preached day in, day out in the churches across our world.
Is this God's way for us in this Day of Grace? Is this God's way for us in this Day of the New Covenant? Is this God's way for us in this Day of the Finished Work of Christ?
NO. I do not not believe this is God's way. How could a people who have NO ability to save themselves but receive Jesus, the gift of God, then be expected by that same God to contribute their own effort to their on-going walk and restoration in Christ. I'm sorry, I don't believe it and that teaching sounds like bondage to me, not the freedom Jesus promises and provides.
I preach Jesus, nothing else. That's freedom. Whenever I have the opportunity to preach I don't have to sweat over a meaningful sermon with a meaningful, classy structure and a meaningful strategy...Jesus reveals Himself to me everyday and my role is simply to declare Him, exalt Him by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, who gives the words to speak in His role of exalting Christ. That's what it's all about!
So, there is much I could say on this but as I considered the interaction I shared above the Lord spoke to me, encouraging me [again] to consider what the role of the Christian is today.
What is our role having accepted Jesus as our Saviour, having believed in Him?
What is our role?
Is it effort? Or is it something else?
As I contemplated this the Lord said to me, 'YOUR ROLE IS REST, NOT EFFORT.'
We have no input into our restoration, no input into our growth in Christ-likeness; no role to play apart from RECEIVE.
Oh yes, this flies in the face of everything we are as human beings because we are affected generationally by Adam, our first father, and his desire for independence. But Jesus turned everything upside down. We can no longer accept that we have an independent stance because He came to FREE us from our inability to help ourselves by completing THE work of restoration on our behalf.
Wow! This post could be very long. I will finish with this scripture which beautifully describes our role...
Beloved, rest. Sit down. Jesus is the key. It is in His finished work, and nothing else, that enables Peter, the Apostle, to bless us with the words...
The work is done. No effort required.
Your role?
Rest in it...you are seated...it is a position of rest.
Now that is freedom!...

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one can boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.'
Ephesians 2: 4 - 10God has done everything in Jesus. Even our good works, which people use as justification for self-effort, were prepared beforehand by God.
Beloved, rest. Sit down. Jesus is the key. It is in His finished work, and nothing else, that enables Peter, the Apostle, to bless us with the words...
'Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord [that is, receive the truth of the finished work of Jesus, the great gift of God]; seeing His divine power [the Holy Spirit of God] has GRANTED [already done, complete in the completed work] to us EVERYTHING pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him [that is, correctly discerning the completeness of the work of Jesus, it is finished and requires no additional effort on our part] who called us by His own glory and excellence.'
2 Peter 1: 2 - 3
The work is done. No effort required.

Rest in it...you are seated...it is a position of rest.

Green Grass...
Don't you just love the precision and wonder of the word of God?
This morning I am reading John 6.
Have a look at it for yourself. Here is the story of the feeding of the 5000 men, plus women and children.
We see a dilemma. The people are hungry and Jesus tells His disciples to give them something to eat.
Let me ask you...are you hungry?
The disciples, God bless them, can only see the lack and can't see the supply sitting there in front of them.
Let me ask you...can you see the SUPPLY?
A small boy brings his lunch that his Mum packed for him, five loaves and two small fish.
Jesus tells the disciples to have the people sit down.
Sit down.
Rest.
Stop what are you are doing and sit down.
Let me ask you...are you sitting?
Then the Bible makes an interesting statement and points out to us that there was much grass in the place.
Why? Why would the Holy Spirit in inspiring and leading the writer to write, and the translator to translate, and the publisher to publish...and so on...why would the Holy Spirit determine that this detail be included?
I just love the precision of the detail that we so often overlook.
We are all hungry.
Jesus wants us to sit down.
He wants us to rest.
The place here He sits us is a place of green grass.
Why is it green? Because it is the presence of Jesus. How can it not be green?
Can you imagine the small boy who brought his packed lunch and watched as Jesus gave thanks and broke it and fed 5000 plus people. Wow! Talk about sitting in a place of green grass! Remember Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus? A place of green grass!
Many of us are rushing about trying, trying, trying to find favour with God by our trying, trying, trying. We are constantly being 'encouraged' to do this and do that, to follow this and follow that, to love this and love that, to be this and be that but our trying just does not work. Does it? I know because I did it for years, especially as a young man, and all I got was frustration.
But Jesus, today, is saying to me...'Have the people sit down.'
That's what this blog is all about...have the people sit down.
The Bible says this..."The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures... (Psalm 23: 1, 2)
Beloved people sit down.
It is a place of green pasture.
It's not about us...it's about Jesus, He is EVERYTHING your hunger will ever need.
He is your SUPPLY!
There are three things I want you to note and then I will stop

He is your SUPPLY!
There are three things I want you to note and then I will stop
- John 6: 12 says that they were all filled and twelve baskets of fragments were collected. The supply was super in its abundance!
- Ephesians 2: 4 - 7, one of my most favourite passages, says this 'But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and SEATED US with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.' Green grass indeed! Please read this more than once and allow it to seep into your very being. See His love for you even when you were dead. See His grace that has seated you in His presence together WITH Jesus. See His supply, JESUS, supplying the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us. Give Him, our God and Father, praise and glory!
- Now hear this. Philippians 4: 19, 'And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.' This supply, is it according to your trying, or according to your obedience? NO! It is according His riches in glory in Christ Jesus! Oh! The green, green grass! Think of the Lord's Supper, Holy Communion, Lord's Communion...call it what you want. Blood, the blood of Jesus - our Righteousness. We are accepted in the presence of God, inside the veil because of Him and for no other reason. And the Bread, the body of Jesus broken on our account - our Supply...'by His stripes I am healed.'
Are you hungry? Jesus is the answer. He is the Healer for whatever your hunger is.
Sit down in His green grass and shout the victory call with me...
Give thanks to the Lord for He is Good. Hallelujah!
His Love, Mercy and Grace endure forever and ever, for me, for my family, for WTL, and for the families of WTL. [you can put your call, your ministry, your family, your self here].
AMEN and Amen.

Saved...
I am not a Bible scholar but I do love the Word of God. I didn't always but one day God gave me new glasses and everything changed. The glasses He gave me were glasses of Grace; He removed the glasses of Law I had been wearing and put on new glasses of Grace. Everything changed!
Saved.
The scholars tell me that the word translated 'saved' is the Greek word, sozo.
'...that is you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (sozo)...Romans 10: 9
'And He [Jesus] said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well (sozo)...Mark 5: 34
'Those who had seen it reported to them how the man who was demon-possessed had been made well (sozo), Luke 8: 36
I have been on holidays lately and I have had a lot of thinking, meditating, contemplation (call it what you want) time.
I wrote another post a few days ago entitled Salvation (http://graeme-lifeofpurpose.blogspot.com.au/2014/01/salvation.html), you might like to take a look.
Basically I shared some thoughts I had on the subject of 'salvation.'
Salvation, I believe, is more than our traditional view and teaching on the subject and I feel that our lives could be transformed if we embraced all the meaning and wonder encapsulated in our salvation.
Traditionally salvation, being saved, is considered to be that moment when we decide we can't reach God on our own and we avail ourselves of the 'bridge' of Jesus (He is our Way, John 14: 6) and we believe and are saved. We are, in that moment, saved from sin, saved from hell...we are saved and there is nothing anyone, or anything, can do about it ( Romans 8: 38, 39). Hallelujah!
But as we can see from the few verses I quoted at the beginning being saved means more...it is sozo which means not just being saved from hell but also to heal, preserve and make whole.
Also the word rendered 'salvation' in English is the Greek word soteria which certainly means the gift of eternal life but also means deliverance from enemies, diseases, depression, fear, all evil, and preservation safety and salvation. What a wonderful thing!
As I have contemplated all this since the Lord has shown me a verse, again, that I have read many times, and I feel to share it with you this morning.
'I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.'Now the purists might say that this was written in Hebrew and not Greek but too bad. I sit on this side of the cross so salvation to me is the salvation of Romans 10: 9.
There is much I could say about this verse from Isaiah but please note with me the perfection of scripture for it says 'garments (plural) of salvation' and a 'robe (singular) of righteousness' and I think great truth is held in this simple perfection.
Our righteousness is based in Jesus. He is our righteousness. We have no input into our righteousness. It is not based in any works that we have done or will do, it is totally based in Him and His finished work, His shed blood being accepted by God as propitiation for our sins (1 John 4: 10). Our righteousness is singularly based in Jesus Christ, our Righteousness and we are the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5: 21)
But salvation is plural because our salvation is so much more than just that blessed moment in your life when you made the choice to believe in Jesus and received the gift of eternal life. In fact that decision was just the beginning of our 'salvation.' Ephesians 6 encourages us to armour up with the helmet of salvation. This is because the enemy likes to attack in this area. He would like nothing better than to steal the full wonder and magnitude of your salvation from you (please see John 10: 10) but, beloved, Jesus hung on a cross to give you the full magnitude of His salvation, His soteria. Luke 4: 19 describes it as the 'favourable year of the Lord' or 'the year of the Lord's favour.'
So how do we receive this soteria? This morning I open a devotion and this is what it says...
'My friend, if you want God's promises to be sure in your life, you cannot depend on yourself. If you depend on yourself - your obedience, goodness, service and even faith - you will not be able to receive God's promises. But when you depend on God's grace - His unmerited, unearned, undeserved favour toward you - that is when His promises become sure in your life.' (Joseph Prince)Hallelujah! You know whenever I read stuff like that I physically feel the truth of Matthew 11: 30 when Jesus said, "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." What a burden releasing truth!
My soteria is not dependent on me, it rests solely and totally in Him, in His Grace, in Jesus Christ, in His finished work.
We are waiting on God for His breakthrough in our ministry (WTL).
We receive the promises of God but we receive the provision of God, Jesus Christ, He is our Saviour, our Healer, our Deliverer, our Provider, for it is 'by grace you have been saved [please note, have been, past, meaning it is already done, we are already saved in the cross of Jesus, His finished work 2000 years ago] through faith; and that not of yourselves [no input from us], it is the gift of God [who is, what is, this gift of God? Jesus Christ, of course, He is THE GIFT and in Him we have our salvation, our soteria].
See His Grace today and He will see your faith [in that order, not the other way around] and you will receive your breakthrough.
We give thanks to the Lord for He is Good.
Hallelujah!
His Love, Mercy and Grace endure forever and ever, for me, for my family and for WTL.
Amen.

Grace...it's personal
Habbakuk 3: 3 says the splendour of the Lord 'covers the heavens, and the earth is full of His praise.'
I have personally experienced the truth of those words on a recent family camping holiday at the beach, staying at a beautiful place near Narooma, on the the south coat of NSW.
I have already shared in a recent post how the ceaseless, rolling waves impacted me with the truth of the relentless love of God toward me. I give thanks to the Lord for He is Good; His Love endures forever. Hallelujah!
For the last few days of our stay I rose early and spent first light sitting on the beach enjoying the peace of the rolling waves of the love of God. As I walked I was so impacted by what I saw and I feel to share it with you.
Take a look at this photo...
The photo was taken in the early morning first light so it is a little hard to see as I saw as I took this photo but the thing that impacted me was the fact that the beach was unmarked. By the end of each day the beach would be covered with the footprints of the many people who came to enjoy the beach but first thing there was not a mark on the beach as if it had been swept clean overnight.
The earth is indeed 'full of His praise.' Even the pristine beach in the early morning speaks of Him and His unending grace toward us.
This particular morning as I looked at the smooth, clean beach I was touched by the truth expressed in Lamentations 3 : 22 - 24...
'The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul. "Therefore I have hope in Him."What a beautiful truth.
Every morning the Lord's never ceasing lovingkindness and His compassions are NEW!
Why?
Because of my doing?
Because I am faithful?
No.
Simply because 'Great is Your faithfulness!"
His lovingkindness and compassion, His Grace, His unmerited favour toward me is founded on the rock of Jesus Christ, the faithful One, the One in whom is my Hope, for 'He is my portion, therefore I have hope in Him.'
Beloved, His Grace is personal to you...His Grace has a name and His name is Jesus Christ. In Him you are favoured beyond what you can even imagine. As I looked at that pristine beach I considered His word that says,
And He [that is, the Lord] said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.' 2 Corinthians 12: 8His Grace is sufficient, it is enough; whatever your situation, whatever your lack, whatever your illness, whatever your need His Grace is sufficient. Paul, the writer in these verses, goes on to say that he would rather boast in his weaknesses so that the power of Christ may dwell in him. What is he saying? A life handed to the Grace of God believing that He is able is one in which the power of God is fully manifest. Law says you must do it, Grace declares it is already done in the finished work of Jesus Christ...and it is NEW every morning. You can be reminded of this by taking a walk along the beach at first light any morning.
'...the earth is full of His praise.'
Give thanks to the Lord for He is Good.
Hallelujah!
His Love, Mercy and Grace endure forever and ever, for me, for my family and for WTL.
Amen.

For the last week my wife, daughter and myself have been camping at the beach.
Just beautiful!
Yesterday, as we went down to the beach (a few minutes walk from our campsite) I just found myself spontaneously praising the Lord for His love, His great love for me.
As I praised the Holy Spirit spoke to my spirit and the waves, relentlessly rolling in to the beach, just became new and wonderful to me. They never stop, they just keep rolling in, they are relentless and they encompass everything in their path.
My spirit just leapt up to thank God for His revealed love, Jesus Christ.
I love the verses at the beginning of Hebrews where the writer describes Jesus, The Son of God, as the 'exact representation of His nature'. Listen to the words, allow them to truly penetrate the veil, Jesus Christ exactly represents the nature of God and as John 3: 16 so beautifully declares Jesus was given because God so loved.
Oh beautiful words...
God SO loves; not just a little love but a SO LOVE, He so loves us, He so loves me, He so loves you.
What a beautiful Love, Jesus Christ, the Love of God revealed. Hallelujah! You know sometimes the waves are fierce and passionate, sometimes soothing and gentle, but always they roll in, and roll in and roll in. They never, ever stop, they just keep coming and coming. Oh I can reject them and turn away but they will keep coming; or I can immerse myself in them completely and they keep coming and coming.
This is a beautiful picture to me of the love of God in Jesus Christ for me.
Sometimes passionate, sometimes gentle but always relentless.
Beloved, God loves you.
He showed the immensity of His love in the giving of His Son.
His only request of you is that you believe it and receive it.
Allow it to wash over you today.
Receive His Love.
His Love is Jesus and Jesus is EVERYTHING.

Loved...
I'm not sure whether my thoughts are of blessing to you but I do pray and hope that they are. I don't write for any reason other than to express the things God shows me so in a way I write this for myself, but I do hope that what I share might bless you also.
Every morning I spend a little time in the Word.
Contemplate with me these words from Ephesians 1: 6. It says this,
'...to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.'Another version puts it like this,
'to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.'The point is we are, today, now, at this very moment 'in the Beloved.'
We are loved, immeasurably, uncontainably, unconditionally, eternally loved not because of what we have done but because of what He, our Lord Jesus Christ, has done.
We are loved because we are in 'the Beloved.'
I contemplated this truth and I thought of John, the apostle. He wrote John's gospel and there he describes himself as 'one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.' Some thinks that this is suggesting that Jesus had some level of special relationship with John. This is nonsense! The point of John's statement is that John knew Jesus loved him; He had a revelation of the love of Jesus for him, personally. It had been revealed to John, by the Holy Spirit, the length, the breadth, the height and the depth of the love of Jesus for him, personally.
You know one thing the enemy does not want you to know is that you are loved. He didn't want Jesus to know He was loved by the Father. Remember when Jesus was baptised by John (the Baptiser) in the Jordan River? As John baptised Jesus the heavens were opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in the form of a dove and a voice from heaven declared, "YOU ARE MY BELOVED SON, IN YOU I AM WELL_PLEASED" (Luke 3: 22). Immediately following this magnificent anointing we find Jesus in the wilderness experiencing the temptation and the enemy comes to Him and says, " If You are the Son of God..." Do you notice the enemy forgot to add 'Beloved' Son? God Himself had just declared Jesus as Beloved but the enemy chose to leave out this truth, because the enemy is a liar and has been from the beginning, and Beloved he is doing the same to you when he tries to convince you that you are not loved.
You know there is another thing to consider about the baptism of Jesus? God declares of Jesus that He is well-pleased. How is this possible because Jesus hadn't done anything yet? No water had been turned into wine, no blind man set free from his blindness, no woman bleeding for twelve years had been made well, no woman bent double had been stood up straight from eighteen years of looking at, being consumed with her only view of life, the dust and dirt and rubbish of life without Jesus.
You see this shows us that the love of the Father is not determined by what we do; it wasn't determined by what Jesus did. It is not determined by our works. It is not determined by our faithfulness. The love of the Father for You is solely and only determined by the TRUTH that GOD IS LOVE! It is His Grace, Jesus Christ Himself, that lavishes love upon us. Grace is His unmerited favour, expressed in the person of Jesus that loves us, nothing else. The expression of LOVE is seen in the cross and that cross is a finished work and in its completeness we are COMPLETE; completely loved, completely blessed, completely glorified, completely honoured, completely faithful, complete, complete, complete (how many times need I say it before we believe it?)...not in us, in Him, He is EVERYTHING!
Remember the woman bent double? I love this picture. This woman for eighteen long years could only see the dirt, dust and rubbish. It is a picture to us of our lives without Jesus; all we can 'see' is the dirt, dust and rubbish of our life; we have nothing else. If we are sick all we can see is the sickness, if we are poor all we can see is the poverty, if we have a crisis in our lives all we can see is the crisis. Oh blessed day! One day into the woman's view came two feet, the feet of Jesus. He told her she was 'set free' and He put His hand on her and she stood up. What did she see? His wonderful, beautiful face! The dirt, dust and rubbish was replaced with His glorious face! I don't believe she ever lost sight of that face.
You know not long after those two feet, and those hands that touched in healing love were pierced through with the nail of our sin expressed in the brutality of the crucifixion. As Jesus bore our sin God, His Father, turned His back on His Son and the anguish of His cry, 'My God, My God why have You forsaken Me?' As He hung there our sins were laid on Him, all our sickness, poverty, crisis, all our need was nailed to Him, and when it was done He gave up His life. The soldier pierced His side with a spear and blood flowed down and that blood flows today cleansing us. Beloved, there is power in the blood of Jesus, not only for salvation but for restoration, righteousness, supply, blessing, grace upon grace upon grace upon grace. Please believe it, and receive it!
Beloved, I call you that for that is what you are, the Apostle Paul prayed that enormous prayer in Ephesians chapter 3...
'that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.'John knew that Jesus loved him, he knew the breadth of The Love who removed our sin as far as east is from west; he knew the length of The Love that determined that Jesus set His face as a flint and went all the way to Calvary on our account; he knew the height of The Love who went in to the highest place, the Holiest of Holies, the very presence of God, with His own blood and was accepted and we are accepted in Him; he knew the depth of The Love who having gone into very depths of hell on our account so that we might be set free from having to experience the consequences of our inherited sin.
Oh what love!
Truly, truly, truly we can say with John the Apostle in 1 John 4: 10,
'In this (please read verse 9 for the 'this') is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propritiation for our sins.'Oh we are so loved!
Beloved receive His love!
Do nothing today but receive His love for you.
Put aside the thought that you are blessed because of your faithfulness to Him but receive the absolute truth, the freedom of the truth because truth sets us free, of the fact that you are blessed today because He loves you, HE JUST LOVES YOU!
God, Almighty God, today, right now, looks at you, even with your mustard seed size faith, and sees you bathed in the glory and purity and righteousness of His own Son, Jesus Christ.
Hallelujah!
Rejoice and declare with me...
We give thanks to the Lord for He is Good. Hallelujah! His Love, Mercy and Grace endure forever and ever; for me, for my family and for WTL. Amen and amen!
